The Professional Card in the professions of Waiter and Bar, Tour Guide, Hotel Receptionist, Baker and Cook, will be mandatory from 2023. The information was advanced by the General Director of Employment, Danilson Borges, during the meeting of socialization and dissemination of the legal regime that regulates the professional card, with operators of the Hospitality, Catering and Tourism sector of Sal Island.
With this measure, according to him, the Government intends to improve the sector's organization, preserve public health, as well as the professional qualification for the provision of quality tourism services.
Danilson Borges also said that the issuance of the professional card, will start from October this year, through a digital platform that is being designed.
The meeting of socialization of the legal regime of the professional card was attended by the Minister of Tourism, Carlos Santos, who said in his speech that to have quality and diversification in the sector, it is necessary to bet on the professional qualification of professionals.
"Cape Verde as a small destination, if it wants to continue in this competitive world that is the world of tourism, has to act in differentiation. To differentiate the product must also have quality, and this quality must be through the qualification of people, defended the Minister.
The introduction of the professional card, according to the executive, is an important element to achieve qualification, being necessary to "separate the wheat from the chaff", to have the best skills and recognize those that did not go through professional training.
The professional card was instituted by the Government, through Law nº107/IX/2020 of December 14th, as an indispensable condition for the access and exercise of professions related to the Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism areas.
